From 1975 to 1979 I lived in Duluth, Minnesota, overlooking the entrance to the Duluth Ship Canal. It was easy to photograph the ships entering the harbor. The Duluth photos were all taken from 1976 to 1979. The earliest photos were taken with a half-frame camera. The prints were not very good quality, so the digital copies are also not so good. West Virginia: Battle of Point Pleasant & Todd roots

My grandfather, Cecil Amos Todd, was born in Red House, West Virginia, in 1890. I’ve included photos I took in Red House many years ago, plus a 1947 family photo I copied. James Todd, my great-great-great-great grandfather, was one of the Virginia Militia who fought at Point Pleasant, and whose name appears on the monument. Photos by Gary L. 1965 New York & 1967 Montreal World Fairs

In 1965 the Rockford West High School symphony orchestra played concerts in the New York State Pavilion at the World’s Fair, in Rockefeller Plaza in downtown New York, and on the steps of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. These are BW photos I took during that trip. I played trumpet. In 1967 I rented a flat in Montreal and spent a week at Expo 67. Photos by Gary L. Arizona: Grand Canyon

In June, 1971, I began hitch-hiking across America from Phoenix, Arizona. This album shows the first part of my journey, from Tempe up to the Grand Canyon, where I hiked down the South Rim and up the North Rim before resuming my hitching-hiking. I spent a week at the bottom. Regrettably, I only had one roll of BW film for the whole trip. The color photos were taken from a jet while on my way to China in 1991. Photos by Gary L. This is Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, and Disney Studios in Orlando, Florida, taken in summer, 2009, unless otherwise noted. Amy Todd appears in many of these. Kauai: Hawaiian Islands Garden Isle

These photos were all taken on the “Garden Island” of Kauai, mostly showing beautiful scenery. Many were taken from a helicopter. Some of these sites should be familiar, as they were featured in a number of movies and television shows. I took the photos in 2000. America’s West Coast: California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska

These are mostly scenic photos of West Coast states: California, Oregon, Washington, & Alaska. The faded photos date from 1976. The Alaska photos are from a layover during a flight from China to America in 1991. I took the Mount Saint Helen’s photos just after learning my dad had passed away in 2000, so my heart wasn’t really into the photography then. My son Marcus was in Army Language School in Monterey in 2006 when we visited there, and the Sequoia National Forest photos were taken shortly afterward when we visited Amy’s cousin and her family.
